A vida é importante

“I believe that George Floyd’s killing is a disgrace for mankind and the police force. A man’s skin should never be considered a weapon. On the other hand, I believe that the way protests are being run is not productive. Violence is never a way.” 10ºA

“The truth is that no one is born a racist. We live in an ignorant society, with ignorant values taught by ignorant people but it is our generation’s duty to change that. George Floyd’s death and many other situations are truly heartbreaking. The fact that black people are dying only because of some pigment on their skins is intolerable and if I could I would go to America and take part in the peaceful riots.”11ºA

“To me, what happened to George Floyd has been happening all along. Right now, the only difference is that it has been filmed and shown to the whole world. In my opinion, people just got really tired of waiting for a change to come, so they got angry and decided to fight for themselves and be the change they expected for so long. All around the world everyone is shocked because it is not something they heard it was happening across the ocean, it is actually something they can see happening and they can hear the begs for help. It’s a sad and sometimes violent revolution to change that but it is needed to get a definitive result”. 11ºA

“In my opinion, this part of 2020 will make a difference, police officers are being given direct orders to atack peaceful protesters and that is truly wrong. I hope this time will make people learn with the events and the american police force will become more knowlegeable about white privilege and their racist acts.” 11ºA
